Strategic Framework

As CEO, I am privileged to have the opportunity to lead a well-respected organization with committed and talented staff and volunteers. I am very excited about the possibilities that exist for OTF to achieve our mission as volunteers and staff work together. Since my arrival in August, I have been very grateful for the opportunity to meet with staff, volunteers and grantees across Ontario in order to enhance my knowledge of the opportunities that OTF has to help build healthy and vibrant communities. My travels have also allowed me to better understand the assets and challenges of communities across the province.

The words that come to mind in my evaluation of OTF to date are that there is a great opportunity to increase our FOCUS and our ALIGNMENT in order to ensure that our investments have impact. The breadth of our work is considerable and the reach across the province is broad. Setting priorities will help us to be more strategic in our investing.

Our new strategic framework (pdf) is designed to enable the Foundation to better measure our outcomes and to be more transparent in how funding decisions are made. Our goal is to be accountable for our resources and to be fair and transparent in our processes. Our framework includes clearly articulated sector priorities, that will help us to achieve our mission. We recognize that there are growing demands for OTF funds (in any given round more than half of the applications are declined) and we want to use them to maximize community benefit.

We know that OTF makes a difference across the province and we are committed to continuing our work by making sure that our investments have an impact. To support this, each of our catchment areas as well as our provincial program has identified how best to respond to local context, which is based on local community knowledge.

Updated Program Guidelines as well as a new application form are now available.  Check out How To Apply for a Grant for more details.

This is an exciting time for OTF and we are looking to the future with great enthusiasm.

Don't hesitate to contact an OTF staff member if you have any questions on this or if you wish to share some thoughts on our clear direction.
