To strengthen suicide-prevention strategies in six high schools by introducing two best-practice models that have demonstrated significant impact in reducing youth suicide rates. The strategies will encourage help-seeking behavior, enhance peer-to-peer support systems and build the capacity of teachers, parents and students to assess suicide risk and support those at risk in the development of safety plans.

To engage a festival planner to create a business plan for a new multicultural festival in York Region to be launched at the Markham 2015 Pan Am Games. The festival will bring together a variety of small existing multicultural festivals into a diverse month-long showcase of food, dance, music and art at multiple locations.

To develop and promote Queerstory, a free walking tour app for mobile devices containing a large collection of stories promoting, preserving and celebrating the richly layered history and achievements of Toronto’s queer community,to be showcased during Toronto’s hosting of World Pride in June 2014, and used as a tool to promote inclusion to students, educators and the community at large.

To further develop WEnav, a career-coaching pilot program that helps youth aged 12 to 30 figure out what they want to do when they grow up and how to achieve their career goals. Training tools will be developed in French and English and a train-the-trainer program will be offered to organizations working with youth.

To refresh and enliven the gallery’s historical display of Indigenous culture in Grand River. Along with renovations, the addition of touchscreen monitors and other audio-visual aids will increase the visual appeal and improve the audience experience of the gallery.

To renovate a section of the house to create a walk-in counselling clinic that will improve the safety and well-being of both women and men from London and Middlesex. The walk-in clinic will broaden the type of services offered while reserving shelter beds for critical situations. A significant increase in counselling requests is expected.

To hire a regional manager to manage four youth drop-in centres located in Brantford, Paris, St. George and Burford. Staff will improve programming to better meet the growing need for arts activities for youth aged 11 to 19 .

To increase the responsiveness and strengthen the sustainability of this volunteer-run Stouffville station by completing a listeners’ survey and hiring an advertising sales manager. Grant funds will also support print marketing and sales material and the purchase of office equipment.

To upgrade kitchen ventilation equipment, which will improve safety and enable community members to better enjoy the Allisonville Hall facility. This will also help to sustain function rentals and attendance at community celebrations, which provide a revenue base for the lodge.
